In the era of globalization and outsourcing, the fact that some items are so indigenous that one cannot make them elsewhere is a beautiful thing.
Jameson vs Bourbon
It is impossible to legally produce Jameson in the United States or bourbon in Ireland. The reason leans more toward patriotism than liking one particular beverage.
Geography is one aspect, but there is more to distinguish these two liqueurs: Irish Whiskey and Bourbon.

Jameson & Bourbon: What makes them distinct?
The location matters!
Bourbon is exclusively made in the US, while Jameson (Irish whiskey) is made solely on the island of Ireland.
As far as bourbon is concerned, these whiskeys are almost made explicitly in Kentucky.
The ingredients
While Irish whiskey is made from a yeast-fermented mash of malted cereals like wheat, barley or corn, bourbon must be made with a basic recipe of at least 51% corn, with the remainder made up of rye, wheat, and barley.
Production and distillation
The Americans and the Irish use combinations of column reflux and copper pot stills. Usually, the Bourbons are distilled twice, while Irish people distill their whiskies thrice.
Furthermore, Irish whiskey must be aged for three years, while there is no limit on bourbon; however, they mature for at least two years.
Taste
Irish whiskey, such as Jameson, is known for being smooth and light, while bourbon is sweeter and also characterized by its vanilla, oak, caramel, and spice notes.
